Man boobs can be quite an embarrassing topic amongst those males unfortunate enough to suffer from male breasts, otherwise known as gynecomastia. Although man boobs are harmless in the health sense of the word, they can cause severe sociological and psychological effects on men who struggle to cope with this condition.
Gynecomastia affects around 30 percent of males worldwide and usually strikes up ridicule rather than empathy when being referred to. Older males are also likely to develop gynecomastia but it is generally associated with poor diet and obesity than the average middle aged man in seen to have breasts.

As well as hormonal imbalances, birth defects and genetic defects can be related to gynecomastia. Liver diseases, kidney failure and even tumours can bring on hormone imbalances resulting in gynecomastia. Drug abuse and certain medications such as steroids or those with traces of oestrogen, can also have dramatic effects over time on a man’s breasts and fat glands.

For those males who develop gynecomastia in adolescence, round 90 percent will outgrow the condition once puberty passes and hormone levels regulate themselves. But for those who are left to face life with an embarrassing condition, it may come down to making some dramatic lifestyle changes in order to get rid of these unsightly man boobs.

Losing weight and adopting a healthy diet are important when it comes to reducing the appearance of gyecomastia. But for those who try all the natural suggestions to no avail, the only thing left to do is to undergo surgery.
